The title of my blog first came to me in January of this year, but I was a little hesitant. My first thought was “Who am I to speak on awakenening?”
I’m certainly not trying to position myself as a guru or ascended master, or pretend I’m walking on water all the time (or ever, actually).
In fact it’s quite the opposite. Over the past year and a half I’ve leaned more fully unto my humanness than ever before. I’ve reconnected to my physical body and cultivated an appreciation for coping mechanisms and body adaptations that aided me in getting to this point.
I’ve also gotten alot of clarity on which parts of myself are actually ME, and which ones are internalized protections and expectations from others, societal conditioning, etc.
I’m no longer outsourcing my power to individuals or systems who benefit from me having none.
As Dr. Kelly Brogan would say in her book Own Yourself, it’s up to us to accept full responsibility for every aspect of our lives if we want any chance of improving it (paraphrase).
My definition of awakening in the very basic sense is the awareness that something is not working. That moment we realize a different approach is needed, and possibly some new skills as well.
It’s seeing things in a new way and being open to exploring it further. The willingness to “go there.”
It is stepping into the truth of what we’ve always known, but were never allowed to know.
It’s signing our own permission slip and boldly proceeding- without any guarantees of what we’ll find.
. ..burning it all to the ground and building it back on our terms.
I truly believe this is happening on a global scale right now; it’s a very powerful time with alot of shifts in consciousness. The blinders are coming off, the illusions falling away.
Due to external chaos, we may choose to turn inward and do some of our own personal work. This is a worthwhile endeavor, and I suspect will be “mission critical” in navigating through the next few years.
The good news is: “When nothing is certain, anything is possible” (Margaret Drabble).
May we all awaken to the truth of who we are- and inspire others to do the same 🙏
