It’s so easy to get caught up in rescuing the “invisible victim” or fighting the “invisible enemy, but at the end of the day the only thing we actually have control over is ourselves.
The belief that we can change much of anything “out there” is an illusion that keeps us stuck, disempowered, and in relationship to the very thing we’re resisting.
The rescuer/victim/perpetrator cycle is a dead end.
While our brain may get a temporary hit of feel good chemicals from being so virtuous (did someone say addiction πββοΈ), it ultimately siphons our energy and serves to power up the “matrix” that we all claim to want out of so badly.
As children we may have had to save, fix, rescue (aka SELF-ABANDON), as a means of survival, but that’s most likely an outdated program at this point.
Just like any good program, it’s usually unconscious, AND there’s usually no shortage of societal validation and reinforcement available for running it.
However, a little deeper, we may find that the “victim” we’re rescuing is actually a younger version of ourselves.
…and that external enemy- could that be our disowned shadow side that we thought we’d locked away for good? π€
Well now it’s just getting awkward ππ
When I sat with these questions, I realized that the distance I was willing to go to help others was in some ways determined by the extent I wanted to escape myself.
Conversely, the times I’ve been the most internally resourced and able to access joy, peace, and gratitude are the times I’ve effortlessly impacted others in a positive way- sometimes without even meaning to.
Source energy is limitless. Love overflows. Light illuminates.
As we awaken to the truth of who we are, we will naturally and effortlessly reflect to others their own divinity along the way π
Thank you for this Lindsey. This hit home.
