Just a reminder: your body is yours.
All of it. 🫀🧠🫁
While there are a million ways we can outsource our power, this entry primarily focuses on situations encountered when navigating the medical system.
Because of the power differential present in clinical settings, the heightened emotional states patients may experience in these settings, and the widespread acceptance of many medical interventions, it is unfortunately a perfect storm for retraumatization and self-abandonment.
So, I offer my thoughts:
Frequently in health and wellness groups people will post about asking their doctor for permission to make lifestyle changes like eliminate a food that’s bothering them, start a new exercise regimen, or utilize a “biohacking” practice such as a sauna, cold therapy, or infrared light.
While some practitioners are open to these practices, many caution against them and offer prescription medications or surgical procedures instead.
They either aren’t interested in learning about other modalities, or they’ve permanently dismissed it due to reading one or two articles (likely funded by Big Pharma) about someone that burnt their eyebrows off (or some other bizarre and unlikely scenario).
Nothing against healthcare practitioners, as the system is designed this way. It incentivises illness and perscribing medication; and labels anything outside the standard protocol as “negligent” or “irresponsible.”
It is for this reason that we must be willing to see the system and the people it it for what it is: one option amidst a multitude of other options.
I have personally found the Western Medicine (physical and mental health) model to be limited at best- and inhumane and extremely harmful at its worst.
While I understand why people go the allopathic route, it is still shocking to me how much trust we place in this self-appointed authoritarian system that still has yet to prove it even has our best interest in mind.
In addition to the concerns listed above, there are also thousands of people every year coerced into interventions they aren’t comfortable with- or that they don’t even fully understand; usually without being educated on side effects, or potential long term consequences.
There are court cases ALL the time for malpractice, negligence, etc, but because the media is bought/sold by Big Pharma you’ll rarely see anything about this in the mainstream news sources.
A few scenarios that come to mind are:
• Pelvic exams on unconscious women by
med students (I’m sorry but someone had to
go there. I read an article about it 5 years
ago, then verified its a thing unfortunately).
• Cervical “checks” during childbirth (in some
husband is asked to hold the woman’s
legs down, which puts him in the terrible
position of being complicit in his
wife’s medical rape.
• Unnecessary c-sections
• Forced vaccinations (once again,
non-consensual penetration and injecting
toxic ingredients like heavy metals,
formaldehyde, and aborted fetal
cells into the body, with no liability for
vaccine manufacturers).
While Western Medicine can be helpful in some cases, let’s not forget it’s also the 3rd leading cause of death in the US.
Also for people interested in the Bible, it says “the nations will be deceived by pharmakia,” which is translated as sorcery. ..aka black magic (see comments section for more on this). #yikes
If you’re bored and looking for a 🐰 hole to go down, then research the Rockefeller medical system.
Trigger warning: the history of the medical system is dark. The inhumane ways in which we’ve tended to physical and mental health concerns are truly horrific.
While I hope it improves, change is not guaranteed. I write to help people become more informed on all sides of the issue, with the hope they’ll feel more equipped when/if they’re faced with medical decisions.
What you can do today to become an active participant in your own health:
- Ask questions. Do not be afraid to request clarification, more details (even seemingly insignificant ones), and examples of cases similar to yours.
- Take someone with you to appointments. This is especially for the ones that struggle with freezing up and/or zoning out; and fear being steamrolled as a result.
- Consider “alternative” therapies. I put the word alternative in quotation marks because so many holistic practices are ancient- which actually makes Allopathic medicine the alternative, but I digress. ..seriously though, there are so many natural cures that have been pushed under the rug or even aggressively censored because they’re a threat to the pharmaceutical industry. You may be surprised to find people who have healed from your exact thing and are excited to share how they did it.
However you choose to care for your physical vessel, I truly hope this entry helps you do so with confidence, clarity, and empowerment.
Bonus points if you’re able to access a little self-compassion as well. These times ain’t for the weak!
