Thank you @thehighpriestess11 for speaking out about this🙏
It’s a big deal.

I’ve been in the mental health field for approx 13 years, and the overlap between mental health concerns and spiritual gifts has been in the forefront of my mind for about the last 5; but I remember wondering about it as early as 2009 during my grad school internship on post at FT Jackson, when I was asked to sit with a soldier that was having what was termed a “psychotic break.”
That is a story for another day, but years later, I’m of the belief that the answer to the question “What is happening with this person?” is largely dependent on which lens you’re viewing them through.
A few other factors come into play as well:
- The consciousness of the person conducting the assessment.
- How aware they are of their own biases
and whether they’re willing or able to set those aside to truly SEE the person. - Whether or not they’ve discovered intuitive abilities of their own and learned to work with them.
- Whether they’ve navigated an awakening experience themselves.
I plan to write more on this in the future, but I just wanted to share a few thoughts today:
Just because we don’t understand where someone is operating from doesn’t make them “crazy.”
Having the humility to ask, “What are you accessing?” and taking time to attune to the person can change a person’s whole trajectory.
However, I understand the system is not currently designed to operate this way and that there’s limited time and resources.
There’s also the fact that the mental health field is often used as a funnel straight into big pharma dependency.
If you really want me to put on my tin foil hat, I’d say *at some level* it was specifically designed to numb and suppress spiritual awakenings 🤔
Individuals who believe they are sick or that something is wrong with them become dependent on practitioners, meds, and systems.
Converesly, those that have cultivated the ability to work with their unique gifting and stay grounded and embodied (at least when it matters, lol) know that they may need support at times, but overall they are the captain of their own ship.
More to come 🪷
