The mistreatment -particularly the silencing- of women throughout history has been really up for me the past month or so, to the point where I’ve had visceral responses to a recent non-fiction book, discussion of a TV show I haven’t seen (HT), or just little triggers that have popped up in my daily life.
While I’m aware that some of this material belongs to me specifically, a large percentage of it feels ancestral, primal, & even residual from a past life.
When I went to my bookshelf to see what I have on this topic, I was reminded that I’ve been exploring this stuff much longer than a month! This particular book collection began in 2018, & there were even a few I didn’t include, going back as far as 2011.
While I haven’t read most of them all the way through, I just wanted to share some themes that have emerged since I unknowingly set out on this journey:
- The women who were burned at the stake were not practicing dark magic or sorcery.
They were women who were connected to the earth, their higher power, & their inner knowing. They were the healers, the mystics, and the midwives, who were skilled in natural cures, herbal remedies, etc. ..they were a threat to the establishment and thus had to go.
- To abuse and pillage the earth is to steal from the Mother, and ultimately, the Devine Feminine spirit of the planet.
Call her what you will: Mother Earth, Gaia, etc. She is wild. She is ferral, and as a collective, we may be creating a harsher reality by not honoring her.
Thinking we’re entitled to the Earth’s gifts without replenishing them or caring for her is the same prdatorial energy as a sexual assault- taking whatever you want with no regard for anyone else.
- There’s likely a lot more to Mary Magdalene story than is usually taught in church.
Do your own research, but
some of the things I’ve personally explored are as follows: the idea that Mary was Jesus’s confidant and had a lot of influence, Jesus and Mary were married (possibly with children), and that Mary used the Tantric practices from her lineage to assist Jesus in birthing his spiritual gifts.
