All is well in the morning light πͺ·β¨οΈ
I sent this picture to a friend and was going to caption it: “All the hell this little thing has put us through.” π
But then I thought better and changed it to “All of our own hell she has mirrored back to us.” π
See, Puffy tends to be the symptom bearer for our little family unit. She knows when something is up and acts as the canary in the coal mine.
We’ve had a hectic week with storms, construction on 3+ houses across the street, and me trying to meet my own self-imposed deadline for the book I’m writing π€
The most sensitive souls and bodies will always be the first to take a hit (pets and people- usually children).
If we’re smart, we’ll listen. If we’re not smart, we’ll make them π―% responsible and allow them to become a scapegoat for the whole system.
Life doesn’t occur in a vacuum, and no man (pig) is an island.
We are only as strong as our “weakest” (most dysregulated) link.
I thanked Puffy for alerting me that something is off and promised her I’d get to the bottom of it ASAP π

If you’re wondering what could have possibly occurred to result in 2-3 nights of missed sleep and time-out for everyone involved, keep reading!
Two nights ago, I had to separate the pigs because Puffy was seemingly being aggressive towards Shelly. Her whole body would shake, and she would do a combination of growl and purr, then launch forward and try to peck at Shelly’s fur π
It would only stop when I put her in bed with me, which, of course, is a complete joke and not sustainable.
They’re both girls, but according to multiple other guinea pig owners in Facebook groups, this still happens occasionally.
I did not get the sense that Puffy had malicious intent, but regardless, Shelly was not finding it very amusing and was potentially feeling unsafe.
We did a remote kinesiology session yesterday with a practitioner in SC and things have been so much better. She used muscle testing to determine the root cause, then cleared some stuck emotional energy.
I am re-integrating them in small doses today. So far, so good π
