I’m encouraged to see more discussion around this topic. I refer to it as the fetishization of youth.
The evangelical Christian church is one of the biggest contributors to this culture with their perpetuation of the Purity Movement that, to my knowledge, began in the 90’s.
Purity culture exhibits an obsession with youth and innocence to the point of pedophilia. In doing so, it provides a safe place for abusers to hide. It is not unusual for the church to look the other way in cases of sexual misconduct or to just move people to a different leadership position or let them go quietly (similar to the military).
Christian women are kept in an arrested developmental state. They often get stuck in the maiden archetype and fail to reach maturation into the mother archetype. The mother is a healed and empowered woman and a force to be reckoned with.
Instead, they become frozen, dissociated, and vacate their bodies (after being systematically and ritualistically disconnected from them) and end up just handing the children over.
The intention stunting of women’s growth is systemic and cultural and can be found in every patriarchal structure. It is a co-creation, the specifics of which are outside the scope of this post.
I’ll write more soon on what the “witch wound,” which is women being fearful of self-expression due to it being extremely unsafe in the past (including previous lifetimes), with the consequences being as severe as torture and loss of life.
Unfortunately, it’s not uncommon to see women policing women under the guise of helping them. It is often in the areas of dress, speech, and sexuality. This is called internalized misogyny. It is a trauma response that often accompanies Stockholm syndrome (over identification or sympathy for the captor/abuser).
This ⬆️ is doing the work of the establishment. It is the same behavior that puts women up on the stake (throwing our sisters under the bus). Once again, it was a way of survival due to the operating environment at the time, but still goes on today. Tbc
