How to SEE ourselves?

I was asked this question last night during a phone conversation with a friend, and I found myself at a loss for words (a rare occurrence lol).

My own experience was so bizzare and unreplicatable that it may not be helpful at all.

The brief explanation of what happened is as follows:

The combination of Lyme and acute trauma resulted in the ultimate “glitchiness,” during which I experienced a type of dual awareness similar that of a lucid dream.

Speaking of dreams, my memories and dreams switched to third person, and stayed that way for a year (on and off).

These things can happen for a variety of reasons, but because mine thankfully improved by implementing some key wellness practices (discussed in another entry), the most likely culprit was brain inflammation.

It is not uncommon for people with Lyme to have neurological symptoms that are exacerbated by stress. This knowledge alone was my saving grace during that phase of my journey.

So, how did I SEE myself? I didn’t have a choice! πŸ˜¦πŸ€·β€β™€οΈ

Assuming this is not the case for everyone, I’ve chosen 3 practices that may be a good start:

1. View your life as a mirror.

Take radical ownership of every single thing that comes into your field.

What we put out, we get back. We attract what we are. What we focus on expands.

β€’ If you’re experiencing betrayal, ask where you’re betraying yourself.

β€’ Abandonment? Where you are self-abandoning?

β€’ Disrespect? You get the idea. ..

I know it’s not always that easy, and there are often barriers on the 3D Earth plane- but I would suggest doing an inventory and addressing the “low-hanging” fruit ASAP for some quick shifts.

2. Inner child work

Getting in touch with our inner child is a great way to reconnect to disowned aspects of ourselves. This can be very powerful and serve as a “Soul Retrieval” of sorts.

Prepare to get emotional as you look through old pictures, write a letter to your younger self, or revisit childhood memories (positive ones work too).

If it feels right, you may want to reach out to a “safe person” (close friend or therapist) to act as a witness for your process. Being truly seen by others can help us see ourselves.

3. Breathwork or plant medicines

Both of these can trigger altered or “non-ordinary” states of consciousness, so it’s important to consider set and setting. Michael Pollan discusses this in his book How to Change Your Mind (link in comment’s section).

These modalities can help us access subconscious material that was previously out of reach, and thus give us new insight into ourselves and relationships.

Please do more research than just this blog before participating in anything mentioned in point 3 πŸ™„

Also (as CYA for myself) this is not medical or therapeutic advice in any way. I encourage safe and legal healing practices always πŸ™

So that is what I have for now. I would love to hear other people’s suggestions in the comments section! Also, I just decided to write a whole entry on plant medicines. ..stay tuned πŸ™Œ
